Studio Policies

1. Enrollment & Studio Seasons

1.1 Enrollment

New students are welcome to join throughout the year whenever lesson openings are available. Tuition begins in the month lessons begin.

1.2 Academic Season (September–June)

The Academic Season provides consistent weekly instruction from September through June.

Lessons continue as scheduled during all school holidays and breaks. The studio closes for one week only during the Christmas season.

1.3 Summer Season (July–August)

Summer lessons are offered separately each year.

Each spring, families may choose the summer option that best fits their schedule and goals:

• Continue regular lessons
• Join a special summer program (when offered)
• Take a summer break

Summer tuition and registration details are shared each spring.

2. Payment System

*The monthly tuition system takes effect on September 1, 2026, for continuing students. New registrations beginning in August 2026 will follow the monthly tuition system.

2.1 Monthly Tuition

The Academic Season uses a fixed monthly tuition system.

Tuition is based on the full Academic Season and divided into ten equal monthly payments (September through June). Because tuition is spread evenly across the season, the monthly amount remains the same regardless of how many lesson weeks fall within a particular month.

Monthly tuition reserves your child's regular weekly lesson time regardless of attendance and supports consistent, long term learning throughout the Academic Season.

2.2 Monthly Payments

Monthly invoices are emailed during the last week of the previous monthTuition is due on the 1st of each month

Payment is accepted by e-Transfer to azaleapianoschool@gmail.com. Auto Deposit is enabled.

2.3 New Student Reservation Deposit

New students who register before the monthly invoice for their starting month is issued are required to pay a $50 non-refundable reservation deposit to reserve their lesson time.

The reservation deposit is payable by e-Transfer to azaleapianoschool@gmail.com.

The reservation deposit will be applied toward the student's first month's tuition. The remaining balance must be paid by the monthly payment deadline.

3. Attendance & Make-up Lessons

3.1 Attendance

Regular attendance is important for steady musical progress.

If a student has a contagious illness or is too unwell to participate comfortably, please notify the studio as soon as possible.

3.2 Make-up Lessons

  • Planned absences require at least 24 hours' notice to be eligible for a make-up lesson.

  • Make-up lessons are scheduled based on available openings within the studio's regular teaching schedule, including existing open lesson times or cancellations by other students. Make-up times are not guaranteed and will not be scheduled outside regular teaching hours.

  • Make-up lesson requests should be made within one week of the missed lesson.

  • When a make-up lesson is available, it should be scheduled within one month of the missed lesson whenever possible.

  • Same-day cancellations and missed lessons without notice are not eligible for make-up lessons.

  • If the teacher cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson or tuition credit will be provided.

4. Studio Recitals

Two studio recitals are held each year—one in December and one in June. Recital dates will be announced in advance.

Recitals are an important part of each student's musical growth, and students are expected to participate whenever possible.

5. Withdrawal

If you plan to discontinue lessons, please provide at least one month's written notice. This allows the studio to offer your lesson time to families on the waiting list.

Monthly tuition cannot be refunded once the month's lessons have begun.

6. Studio Etiquette

To help create a positive learning environment, students are asked to:

  • Please arrive no earlier than five minutes before your lesson.

  • Bring all required music books and assignment materials.

  • Arrive with clean hands before each lesson.

  • Food, gum, and sugary drinks are not permitted during lessons (water is welcome).

  • Please treat the piano, books, and studio equipment with care.

  • Parents are asked to supervise any siblings who accompany students.

7. Communication

Studio updates, reminders, and important announcements are primarily sent by email or text message.

Please keep your contact information up to date and notify the studio of any changes.

8. Photos & Media

Occasionally, photos or short videos may be taken during lessons or studio events for use on the studio website or social media.

If you prefer that your child not appear in photos or videos, please notify the studio in writing.

9. Liability

While every reasonable effort is made to provide a safe learning environment, Azalea Piano Studio is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or loss of personal belongings while students are attending lessons or studio events.
